GDF drop-in: Broughton-in-Furness

Join us for a community drop-in event about geological disposal and the siting process for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) – the safe, secure, and long-term solution for the UK’s most hazardous radioactive waste.

This session will provide an update on our identification of Areas of Focus within the South Copeland Search Area, as well as in other Search Areas in the UK. Members of the GDF team will be on hand to share the latest on identifying a suitable site and a willing community, answer questions, and explain what the next steps might involve.

This is a valuable opportunity for people to learn more about how a GDF could support long-term nuclear waste management, and what it could mean for the community that ultimately decides to host a GDF.
